Lionel Ribiero

Lionel Ribeiro leads engineering for the Carbon Removal Incubator at Equinor, where he develops and scales next-generation carbon removal technologies, including direct air capture and direct ocean capture. He built the company’s carbon removal strategy, drove the acquisition of Rolls‑Royce’s DAC technology, and is now spearheading its commercialization. Lionel has over a decade of experience spanning engineering, sustainability, and emerging technologies, including low-carbon solutions that cut emissions by tens of thousands of tons annually. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and Master of Science from both UT Austin and École des Mines, France.
